Successful science afternoon!

26 March 2023 21:06

This afternoon was our science afternoon for children! This was one of the main goals of our crowdfunding campaign. Children with their parents were welcome at the Old Observatory from 2 pm. After a cup of lemonade and a cup of coffee, they could get an extensive tour of the Observatory, build the James Webb telescope with LEGO and capture the day with the photobooth.

Shortly after 4 pm, RINO gave an extensive show that left the children amazed and astonished. After three-quarters of an hour filled with experiments with liquid nitrogen, bananas used as hammers, cork launches, and shrinking balloons, everyone was treated to ice cream made from liquid nitrogen. This treat marked the end of the afternoon.

First of all, we would like to thank Paulien and Suzanne very much for the idea of the science afternoon. Their enthusiasm was at the origin of this event. We would also like to thank the other members of the Symposium Committee, namely Dante, Elanor, Jochem, and Wouter, for their help in organizing this afternoon.
